Welcome to Sharon’s Lakeville Tykes, licensed daycare in Lakeville, Minnesota!
Sharon’s Lakeville Tykes Daycare is in South Lakeville (Lakeview Elementary neighborhood) and has been open at this location since September 2013, and previously licensed in Minneapolis for 13 years. After taking several years off to work outside the home, I’m now relicensed and back to doing the job I love: caring for and teaching your children.
We have lots of fun every day with circle time, story time, table time, and free play indoors and outdoors. Our yard is fully fenced, with a huge sandbox and outdoor gym equipment, as well as a large open area.
Preschool activities are geared toward kindergarten readiness and engineered to make learning fun. We don’t use one boxed curriculum, but over the years through trial and error I have developed a system that works for my group. All of the children in my first daycare group have been successful throughout their school years and most have now gone on to college. I’m proud of the part I played in their upbringing.
Besides learning activities, I also work hard to provide lots of fun throughout the day. The early childhood years really fly by, and I want to make happy memories for the children while they’re here. Our days are structured, but we always make plenty of time for spontaneity and child-directed free play. We work on life skills as well, and feelings matter. The children will learn the importance of sharing, taking turns, respect, etc., and of hand washing and covering up coughs, etc.
We have a “Theme Wall” in the daycare area where the childrens’ art is proudly displayed. Our themes are based on seasonal activities and holidays. Open-ended art materials are always available, and we practice small motor skills with many crafts as well.
